Octavic’s Milestone with Innovation Norway

In an era where digital transformation dictates the pace of advancements in the manufacturing sector, Octavic has stood out as an innovative company, helping push Industry 4.0 forward. Through a collaboration with Innovation Norway – part of the EEA and Norway Grants – Octavic embarked on a journey in April 2022 to improve the production planning process within the manufacturing industry. As we mark the conclusion of this project on March 31, 2024, it’s imperative to reflect on the achievements and the transformative impact of the Production Planning Module developed through this partnership.

The ambitious project, partially funded by a generous grant of €200,000, was designed to automate the production planning process, making it more efficient, error-free, and adaptable to changing manufacturing landscapes. Octavic, leveraging the support from Innovation Norway, has successfully developed a Production Planning Module that stands as a testament to what can be achieved when technology meets visionary funding.

Key Achievements

The Production Planning Module, a brainchild of this project, automates the entire planning process, reducing the workload on planning department personnel, eliminating the risk of human errors, and moving beyond the limitations of spreadsheets. This innovative tool not only enhances the overall planning process but also significantly boosts production efficiency. Thanks to the EEA and Norway Grants, Octavic has taken a significant leap forward, setting a new benchmark in production planning.

“The funding from the EEA and Norway Grants has been instrumental in this development, enabling us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in production planning. ” – declared Arnold Nilgesz, Chief Technical Officer at Octavic

Risk based real time smart production scheduling (RB-RT-SPS) project is financed by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants Romania 2014-2021, in the frame of the SME Growth Programme Romania.

A tangible measure of the project’s success is its contribution to job creation. Through the implementation of this project, three new jobs have been created, reflecting Octavic’s commitment to not only advancing technological frontiers but also to fostering economic growth.

Academic Achievements

Beyond the commercial achievements, Octavic’s dedication to the broader scientific and industrial community is evident in their publication of a scientific article titled ‘A Production Planning Solution for Industrial IoT-enabled Manufacturing’. Available on ResearchGate, this publication disseminates the knowledge and insights gained during the project, contributing to the field of industrial IoT and production planning.

“As we celebrate the conclusion of this very important project for us, we extend our gratitude to Innovation Norway, the EEA, and Norway Grants for their support and trust in Octavic. This project not only marks the culmination of a successful partnership but also lays the groundwork for future innovations in the manufacturing sector.” – declared Annamaria Georgies, CEO of Octavic
